What I Treat

Evidence-based treatment for OCD & anxiety disorders

I specialize in treating OCD and anxiety disorders using approaches that have a strong evidence base to help you reach your goals.

OCD isn’t just about being neat or checking the stove twice. It’s a cycle of intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) that can take over daily life. The gold-standard treatment is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). The topics that intrusive thoughts can focus on vary greatly from person to person, but the approach to learning how to cope with those thoughts is the same and it's effective.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

GAD is characterized by worries about various topics that are difficult to control, as well as impacts on your body, such as irritability, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping. CBT treatment is very effective at helping you regain confidence in your ability to cope with anxiety.

Panic Disorder

This diagnosis involved having recurrent, unexpected panic attacks, as well as a persistent fear of having additional attacks or changing your behavior to avoid potential panic attacks. CBT can be helpful for learning to tolerate uncertainty and cope with the automatic thoughts that are part of the panic cycle.

Social Anxiety Disorder

The prominent symptoms for SAD are a persistent fear of being judged, embarrassed or negatively evaluated by others, which causes distress and impacts people's functioning. CBT can help you test out the feared consequences or beliefs about yourself in social contexts through learning various skills.

Specific Phobias

An intense fear of a particular situation or object which contributes to avoidance behaviors and impacts a person's functioning. Through gradual exposure to the feared situations, people can learn valuable information which challenges their automatic thoughts. Examples of specific phobias can include fear of needles, blood, injections, and fears of heights or storms, among many others.
